Repertorio degli inquisitori e delle sedi inquisitoriali | DOI 10.5281/zenodo.1313412
This section of Ereticopedia, online since May 2013 and continuously updated and expanded, provides guided access to a series of substantial entries and shorter biographical profiles concerning individuals who served the Roman Inquisition from 1542 onwards: in primis the cardinal inquisitors, followed by the commissaries general, assessors, consultors of the Congregation, as well as delegates, vicars, consultors, etc. attached to local tribunals. A specific sub-section is devoted to the local structures of the Roman Inquisition; further dedicated sub-sections concern the local structures of the Spanish Inquisition and those of the Portuguese Inquisition.
Part of the research carried out within the framework of this Repertory was incorporated into the volume I giudici della fede. L'Inquisizione romana e i suoi tribunali in età moderna (Edizioni CLORI, Florence 2017), with a foreword by Herman H. Schwedt and an introduction by Daniele Santarelli. The volume provides chronological lists of the Inquisitors who served at the local tribunals of the Roman Inquisition during the early modern period, with the aim of offering readers an accessible and easy-to-consult reference tool complementing the entries already available here online. I giudici della fede lends itself to two distinct forms of use: when consulted in digital form and online, it is integrated with the pages of Ereticopedia, which effectively function as its continuously developing and updated “expansion”; when consulted in print, it serves as a practical reference work for scholars and interested readers who, even offline, can “navigate” among the various inquisitorial tribunals in search of valuable historical information. The volume is freely accessible and downloadable in digital format from the publisher's website and/or may be purchased in print from Amazon.
The Repertory of Inquisitors and Inquisitorial Tribunals, besides constituting a cross-cutting and autonomous section of Ereticopedia, forms part of the project associated with the digital series La “Ruota dei libri”: corpora, repertories and online dictionaries.
